Vision
When I first came to Findhorn I participated in the experience week, a program which introduces visitors to the lifestyle, the history and ethos of the Findhorn community. It was a life changing experience. On the fifth day we were reading from David Spangler’s book ‘Laws of Manifestation’ and I was inspired by one particular sentence: ‘We are here to pioneer a blueprint for a sacred world culture, for a society that strives to live in harmony with all life reflecting the divine laws of love in daily living’. ‘Wow', I thought, 'I want to be part of this, I want to work with others to help bring a solution to our world!' Since then I hold this vision: that we as humanity can realise that we are one family and work together, no matter what our differences may seem to be.
Music is a magical vehicle that can open hearts and lets us experience that sacred unity immediately in a tangible, visceral form. When singing is not merely entertainment but an act of remembering and a communion with the Source of Life, Heaven and Earth connect in our hearts and we are uplifted, healed and transformed. A musical leader with this intention of love and healing becomes a messenger of peace.
In this time of planetary change and healing we have a chance to leave behind outdated modes of behaviour and limited perception of the world. Instead we can become aware that our five senses only give us a narrow view of reality and that there are worlds beyond the materialistic viewpoint. Like a dog is able to hear frequencies that are beyond our own hearing spectrum, there are unseen, subtle worlds beyond our physical perception which are also real. These realms seek to collaborate with us. The founders of Findhorn opened a doorway into this collaboration and achieved miraculous results, described in the book “The Magic of Findhorn”. Connecting with the subtle worlds with beings such as nature spirits and angels enriches our soul and nourishes our longing for magic, mystery and beauty.
As an educator I am inspired to model and introduce this expanded worldview into the realm of teaching and learning. We can use new ways of learning and teaching that are trauma-informed and based on the latest brain research, like from the Heartmath Institute, California. Play, fun and creativity are key components that replace stress, competition and fear of failure. This is demonstrated in my teaching method which I call GreenZone Learning and applied in the musical toolbox and learning game for music, called the MusicTrain.
